Watcha Think About…?

It’s “Watcha Think About…” Friday.  Today’s topic…

Legalized Marijuana!  Is Washington and Colorado making recreational use of pot a good thing?  I really don’t know what to think about it at this point.  Is it any worse than the use of alcohol?  Is it more addictive and does it hinder ambitions?

Watcha Think?

What do I think about it? I think it is funny that Peyton Manning bought 21 Pappa Johns franchises in Colorado and 2 weeks later the state legalized weed. Well played Mr. Manning. Well played!

Ha! Well Played! I think we should head up there and start some convenient stores called “Munchies”

    I’m all for it.

There are MANY reasons to reform the antiquated federal prohibition law. One, in particular, is the cost of incarcerating responsible adults that are “relaxing” at home minding their own business. So silly. Monies that could be spent, effectively, in other more meaningful and effective areas of law enforcement.

Check out the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws website norml.org.

Thanks Todd. I agree. I am unsure of it’s affects on ambition though. Many say “less will get done”, but my intuition is telling me that many people are smoking now and we are still getting things done. I will check out the website. Thanks for reading as always.

My initial thought is that there are already many products that are harmful to the body, and yet still remain legal: Cigarettes, aerosol cans, alcohol and even food! Anyone with a rope and a wrong intent can harm themselves, so to speak. Therefore, is marijuanna much different if legalized? I don’t think so. Ultimately, we all as human beings must decide our role in the world and how we want to conduct ourselves and contribute to society. Some make the right choices; some do not. Legalizing marijuanna will not change that.

On the other hand, we must think about the youth whose brains are not yet developed into the capacity for making mature decisions. Would legalizing marijuanna exacerbate their still immature decision-making into going down a path that would be harmful to their future lives?
    Most probably.

So true. I’m not sure how we are going to be able to keep it out of the kids hands, but then again, they smoke if they want and drink if they want right now as it stands. Time will tell. Ultimately, I hope we tax it properly and make some extra money for the states that support it.
