Im Your Ad Guy

Let’s pause for ‘The Moment’

I would like to share with you one of my favorite short, poetic stories…’The Moment’.  This short story defines one moment in time for a warrior who has a split second to make a very difficult decision.  As you read the thoughts of the lead character, place yourself in moments in your life when you have had to make swift and life altering decisions.  If you have never had (that) ‘The Moment’, then you may not be living life to its full potential.  My observation is not one of violence, it is one of choice.  Take a look and let me know what you think.

It has all come down to this.  One day…a culmination of many of which I never understood completely until now.  I stand here alone staring at my destiny with an unwavering eye.  Although, I stand firm like a one-hundred year old tree with roots as deep as tall, I am scared.

It has all come down to this.  One minute…an argument leading to the ultimate altercation.  For in this day and age no one shall offend and not face the consequence.  A consequence for an action in which I, a man of honor, shall regret for the rest of my limited life.

It has all come down to this.  One second…a sheathed blade of steel comes between my maker and I.  At this trice I am one with the beating of my heart, for its rhythm initiates my offense.  I now call upon the elements that circumvent me.

With the wind at my back I move forward with ferocity.  Although swift, I feel as if I am moving in slow motion.  I blink one last time.  My left hand glides lightly toward the tsuba and in one quiet, choreographed un-sheathing, I feel the blade penetrate.  One cut one kill.

As I cast the red from the tip of steel and slide it back into its casing, I pray.  In the moonlight, I watch my foe fall to his knees and embrace his destiny, for today was his time.  My hopes are he has found nirvana.  If not, his blood shall fertilize the soil and place him on the wheel which brought our paths together in the first place.  We may meet again, but in hopes of different circumstance.

The flower has lost another petal and its color is starting to fade, but it will bloom again.
