WHAT A DAY!
You know, some days no matter how organized you may think you are…things just go WRONG! Well, that was my morning.
OOPS!
It started out as I was drinking my coffee at a stop light. Yep! I spilled the entire cup all over my suit. (Talk about a Coffee Foul) It was too far to turn back, so I get in to work thinking it will dry and not really stain if “I just put some water on it.” It’s a guy thing, you wouldn’t understand. Of course it didn’t work and I just ended up looking…homeless!!!
Normally this would be an easy fix, just keep your suit jacket on until lunch, then go home and change. Uh Uh! I had 4 meetings scheduled today. Two of which I was presenting…front and center. So, I call my buddy Angela and asked if she could help by bringing me another suit into work and of course she agrees because she is AWESOME.
Okay…Everything Will Be Alright…NOT!
End of story right! NOPE! We start setting up all the visuals for the presentation…multi-media visuals that include videos, excel spreadsheets, keynote slides etc… Nothing is working. We must have taken a power hit the night before. I have to think quick on my feet, so of course I call Angela again because I have a “fix” at home. Not a fix at work, AT HOME. So, Angela again says “no problem, I will bring it with your suit.”
At this point, I am thinking that I must have done something to really piss Karma off. But, I believe in not letting your environment dictate your mood or your emotions. So, I finally gather myself…breath for a couple of seconds, smile and get on with it. I am now in a clean suit with no coffee stains, we got the equipment fired up and working properly and our presentations went off without a hitch.
What Have I Learned
It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. Don’t let anything rattle your cage…stay focused and perform no matter what.
Thanks for giving me credit but, I know you would have done the same for me. Plus, I knew how important your big meeting today was to you. That’s what marriage is all about.. Team Work! I’m just happy I was not working today so I could help. I’m glad it turned out well in the end! Love you!!
You have the most wonderful bride in the world. A day of snafus emphasized your perfect pairing.
She rocks and then some! I am lucky to have someone like her. No doubt.
