Do you remember those commercials? You know the ones where the little leprechaun ran around talking about green clovers and blue diamonds. Yep, I don’t know if those are still running today (I guess I need to get back to my cartoon watching) but thinking about that cereal reminded me of something. Superstitions!
Many Athletes Are Superstitious
…and it really can be ridiculous at times. Some of my baseball buddies had some strange rituals back in the day! Things like wearing the same undergarments for every game, using the same pattern of movements every time they stood in the batters box, wearing a specific piece of jewelry…you get my drift. Although, I don’t really remember these rituals making much of a difference to the team as a whole, they did make a HUGE difference to each of the individuals practicing them.
What The Heck Does This Mean To Me?
When looking at these rituals and superstitions as a whole, you see that they are nothing more than important reminders or LUCKY CHARMS if you will! We should all have a “Lucky Charm”! Why? When you get into the day-to-day grind of work and life, you tend to lose focus on what is important. Aimlessly performing tasks during the day can cause set backs when it comes to the goals you have set for yourself…because I am sure your perfect life as defined by you did not include being the best day-to-day “Chore Performer”. At least I hope not.
YOUR Daily Reminder
It’s more than just placing “Do Better” in your calendar on your phone. You should have a tangible, personal reminder that means something to you…something that can hold true significance. It can be something that already has meaning to you or it can be something that means nothing until you give it importance. You should be able to have it on you at all times as a way to make sure you stay focused on your ultimate goal as defined by you. Your “Lucky Charm” could literally be a charm or it could be something you just keep in your pocket. It’s up to you!
Never Lose Sight Of Your Goals!
…And having something as a minute by minute reminder is helpful. Think about it a moment, then get your “Lucky Charm” today. Make sure it is something that is portable, easy to carry and something that you will come across several times during the day. Also, make a note to yourself to think about your goal every single time you see this item. It should remind you of your need to achieve.
Have you seen or heard about some unique lucky charms? I have one and I don’t leave home without it. Do you?
